A Garden Green House Gift Doesn’t Have To Be One Size Fits All

Many people think of a garden green house as a stand alone, room size structure sitting in a perfectly manicured lawn with perfect windowboxes and a cobblestone pathway leading to the entrance. Yes, those elaborate green house kits are available but that’s not the only option available to gardeners who want to expand their gardens inside when the weather turns frightful outside. In fact, a great gardening gift for the hobby grower is a smaller, portable green house.
A garden green house, also known as a hobby green house, doesn’t include those large enough to grow vegetables and flowers for a commercial business. But they are available in lots of sizes and styles for any home gardener - small enough to be manageable, large enough to hold a few vegetables or flowering plants, and everything in between.
Probably the easiest to manage is a portable green house. Easily moved from place to place, some of the portable green houses are actually pop ups that set up like a pop up tent. Most can be placed either on a hard surface like a deck or patio as well as directly on the ground.
Depending on the climate, I suspect that these hobby green houses can be very effective all year long when installed with the tie-downs that come with the kit. However, I’m a bit suspect of their success in northern climates where winters are very severe – but I may be all wrong! Please let me know about your experiences with these portable green houses in the northland!
As a first step into green house gardening, the Easy Seed Starter SeedHouse may be the perfect gardening gift. This compact, lightweight (only 9 lbs.) mini green house requires no assembly tools and easy setup and take down only takes a few seconds. It has two zippered windows, 2 zippered screens, and 2 portholes for powercords or hoses. Its durable construction is perfect for the home gardener.
You may have a gardener on your wish list who has always dreamed of having their own green house. Before investing in a big unit, an Easy Pop Up 4′ PlantHouse or even the Easy Pop Up 5′ PlantHouse (pictured at the top of this page) provides a great opportunity to learn about green house gardening without spending a lot of money. While both are compact, easily installed, and complete with tie downs, you’ll want to compare the different styles mini green houses to get the size, style, # of doors and screens you want.
I must admit the portable green house I would like to have is the Hub Style OrchidHouse. It looks large enough to hold many plants and the double zippered door and four zippered screen windows allow lots of ventilation options. Looks pretty neat to me!
All these green houses are made with durable, UV resistant Gro-Tec material which lets in 75% of the light. This waterproof material also features rip stop protection
In case none of these sound just right for the gift you have in mind, check out all the styles available and pick the size (and price) that’s perfect for the gardener on your list. And shipping is FREE right now! Your gardening gift is sure to be their favorite!
