FREE Staycation Ideas Are Close To Home

Staycations are great opportunities to have fun without spending alot of money. And that’s important these days, for sure. In fact, there are probably many free attractions and destinations right in your own backyard that you may not even know about.
We found the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead a few years ago after a friend suggested it for the kids. It’s a 12-acre farm that’s only about 2 miles from my sister’s house, but it’s so tucked away in the trees we didn’t even know it was there! It’s now become an annual destination whenever her grandchildren come to visit. They love it and it’s FREE!
“The Farm” (as our family calls it), is great for the kids to see and feed animals, enjoy the playgrounds, experience a hayride, see old-fashioned barns and a one-room schoolhouse. Of course, it’s fun to watch the kids but I certainly enjoy seeing the gardens. And this year all the flower and vegetable gardens are beautiful and abundant. We always see new gardens and more fun activities that have been added since our last visit.
Take a look at a few of my pictures from our visit with my four-year-old great niece in August. It was a very successful trip for her … after she caught her “whopper fish” (about 5″ long!).
